Our Mission
Symphony New Brunswick Foundation is an independent charity that supports Symphony New Brunswick through an endowment that is held in perpetuity. As its largest single annual donor, we give SNB financial sustainability and, through its support, the Foundation enables the Symphony to deliver a more diversified musical program to the residents of New Brunswick. The Foundation’s endowment assets are held and managed by an independent Board of Directors.
CANADIAN HERITAGE’S Canada CULTURAL INVESTMENT FUND-ENDOWMENT INCENTIVES Component
The Foundation and the Symphony comprise one of the very few organizations in New Brunswick eligible for matching funds from Canadian Heritage’s Cultural Investment Fund-Endowment Incentives Component.
HOW THE FOUNDATION SUPPORTS THE SYMPHONY
Only the income from the endowment is distributed annually to the Symphony.
Formal agreements with the federal government prohibit withdrawal of capital.
The Foundation is the largest single annual donor to the Symphony
about symphony NB
Symphony New Brunswick operates the province's only full-scale, full-season professional symphony orchestra, and Camerata New Brunswick, a 20-member professional chamber orchestra.
The Company also hosts the Saint John String Quartet; Ventus Machina, a professional woodwind quintet in Moncton; and Résonance, a chamber music group in Saint John. Through high-quality educational offerings and performances, innovation and creativity, SNB promotes the awareness and appreciation of symphonic music in an increasingly diverse New Brunswick.
“The story of orchestral music in this province is one of excellence, as well as tenacity. We are building on that legacy.”
— Reid Parker, President, Symphony New Brunswick and Symphony New Brunswick Foundation
